Winner of CBC Trans-Canada Talent Festival in piano category, 1959. Specialization in 18th century Italian comic opera, Mozart and Haydn, and Canadian Studies. Articles, book and record reviews for the Musical Quarterly, NOTES, Analecta Musicologica, Current Musicology, MGG, Canadian University Music Review, and Opera Grove. Critical editions of Larinda e Vanesio by Adolf Hasse, published by A-R Editions of Wisconsin and three additional intermezzi by Hasse for the Concentus Musicus (K¶ln, Laaber Verlag, 1992). Contributor to the New Pergolesi Edition, published by Pendragon Press, N.Y., and to The Symphony 1720 - 1849 series, edited by Barry S. Brook, Garland Publishing Inc. Directed performance of 18th century intermezzi. Books: "Music in the Preclassic and Classic Era" for the Schirmer History of Music, published by MacMillan of New York (1983), and The Musical World of Frances James and Murray Adaskin, University of Toronto Press, 1988.
