Orion Lecture: The Singer as Researcher
February 16, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:20 am

Orion Series in Fine Arts
Dr. Jane Ginsborg, Musician & Psychologist
Over the course of the past 25 years a great deal of Dr. Ginsborg’s research has been informed by her own experience as a former professional singer. As an applied psychologist she is particularly interested in the cognitive processes that underlie expert performance and preparation for performance, including practising and memorizing, and the social processes typical of rehearsal and collaborative music making. While this talk will focus on the studies Dr. Ginsborg has carried out in this field, she will also touch on some of her other research on topics including virtuosity and musicians’ health and wellbeing.
