Set and costume designer
Shawn Kerwin is an award winning designer who has designed sets and costumes across Canada, in the United States and in England. Recent work includes set and costume designs for Between Breaths (Artistic Fraud, LSPU Hall, Canadian Tour), The Bakkhai (Stratford Festival), Sea Sick (Theatre Centre, Edinburgh Festival), The Buddy Holly Story (Grand Theatre, London), Dead Metaphor (Mirvish Productions), A Tender Thing (Soulpepper). Set design work includes; Colours in the Storm, (Grand Theatre, London), The Colony of Unrequited Dreams (Artistic Fraud). She was a co-creator, with Jillian Keiley, of the multi-choir, 150-person, outdoor music performance float in St. John’s, produced by Choral Canada in 2017. Shawn is a full-time faculty member in the Department of Theatre at York University.
The Belfry@UVic Series at UVic’s Department of Theatre continues this spring with engaging online Zoom conversations with three theatre artists. Many thanks to The Belfry Theatre for this amazing collaboration that connects UVic students with playwrights, directors, designers, actors and more. Conversations are hosted by Dr. Sasha Kovacs, a theatre history professor and practicing artist.
