Playwright, Director, and Co-Founder of the Indigenous arts company Article 11

Tara Beagan is an award-winning Ntlaka’pamux and Irish “Canadian” director, playwright, and actor. Former Artistic Director of Native Earth Performing Arts and co-founder of the Indigenous arts company ARTICLE 11, she will discuss her experiences working in the theatre and performance industry and share her current artistic approaches and projects. Beagan’s most recent play, The Ministry of Grace, premiered at The Belfry in the spring of 2020.

This fall, the Belfry@UVic Series at UVic’s Department of Theatre will move online for Zoom conversations with Canadian theatre artists. Now in its third year, this amazing collaboration with the Belfry Theatre connects our students with playwrights, directors, designers, actors and more. Conversations will be hosted by Dr. Sasha Kovacs, a theatre history professor and practicing artist.
