Lafayette Health Awareness Forum: A primer on pain
October 4, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

A Primer on Pain: How it affects us and what we can do about it
What is the purpose of pain? Does everyone feel pain in the same way? These are just a couple of the questions that will be addressed at the 13th Annual Health Awareness Forum. Hosted by the Lafayette String Quartet in partnership with UVic’s Institute on Aging & Lifelong Health, three presenters will share their expertise to help us better understand the world of pain and its management.
It is estimated that around 6 million people in Canada have reported some form of chronic pain — that’s 19% of the population. Whether pain management is an ongoing reality for you, or you are experiencing some new aches, this forum will offer insights on factors that influence pain as well as some of the positive ways to treat pain. Included will be time for Q&A.
Come at 6pm to browse the interactive research display and enjoy some refreshments.
This free forum brings health professionals and community members together each year to discuss and learn about health issues that affect us all. Enjoy a short performance by the Lafayette String Quartet at this popular annual event.
