Tartuffe
By Molière
The Phoenix season opens with a biting modern-day take on Molière's timeless classic comedy. Tartuffe is the quintessential con-man serving up pious hypocrisy to all. When he dupes his patron into willingly handing over his household, the household fights back.

"... the cast works well together, and earns every belly laugh from the gradual unravelling of the plot and the cheeky physicality of it all. If you're thinking that a classical comedy about religious hyprocrisy isn't your cup of holy water, think again -- the speech may be archaic but you'll be surprised how familiar the humour is in Tartuffe's rhetoric."

"Nearly every performance shone, the standout performances too many to list."
-- Justin Schneider (Nexus)
"Nearly every detail of this UVic production was well considered and everyone was too busy laughing to find fault with it. Even if it's just to hear Tartuffe rhymed with the American pronunciation of roof, you should check this play out."
