Metamorphoses
Based on the Myths of Ovid,
written and originally directed by Mary Zimmerman
This piece of theatrical magic was first developed by performance studies professor Mary Zimmerman at Northwestern University in 1998 and, by 2002, was a smash hit on Broadway. Based on The Metamorphoses of Ovid, the Roman poet, Zimmerman’s play combines the myths’ ancient lyrical poetry with modern translations.
