Faustino Díaz, trombonist, tubist, trumpeter, and arranger

Mexican trombonist, tubist, trumpeter and arranger, Faustino Díaz, hails from a musical dynasty stretching back over 100 years in the heart of Mexico. His musical studies began with his father, Rodolfo Díaz. He studied at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico, the Rotterdam Conservatorium in the Netherlands, and the Lausanne Conservatory, Switzerland. He was the first Latin American trombonist to win an international trombone competition, Jeju Korea 2013, was third place winner of the international trombone competition in Budapest Hungary in 2016, and finalist of the Citta di Porcia international trombone competition in Italy in 2011. He was also a trombonist in Asia with the Daegu Symphony Orchestra in South Korea, and in Europe a member of the Zurich Opernhaus.

Díaz has performed at New York University, the University of Cleveland, Fullerton University in California, the University of Michigan, the University of Buffalo in NY, the National University of Colombia, Daegu University in South Korea, Hong Kong center for the Arts, among other important universities in Europe, Asia and Latin America.

He is also one of the greatest proponents of Latin music. As a trumpeter and trombonist, he is the director and arranger of the Dinastia Díaz, his family’s orchestra with which he also carries out intense musical activity. Díaz frequently tours towns with the most musical tradition in Mexico to continue motivating the study and promoting concert and contemporary music.

Currently Díaz is Principal Conductor of the Campeche Symphony Orchestra, serves as trombonist of the acclaimed Meridian Arts Ensemble of the USA, is a Professor of Trombone at the Conservatory of Music of the State of Mexico and proudly works as an Exclusive Artist of the Japanese firm Yamaha.
