Areas of Research & Creative Activity

Nicola has been writing since she was a kid, possibly as a response to a childhood spent constantly on the move, on both Canadian coasts and overseas. She studied English Literature at Mount Allison, Fine Arts at the Nova Scotia College of
Art and Design, and Creative Writing at UVic and UBC. She was a high school teacher in the Comox Valley and then taught ESL in three European countries, mostly as an excuse to travel.

She is interested in cognitive dissonance, the paradigm shifts that take place when our understanding is in collision with what we see.
