WRIT 440: The Writing Business

Calendar Description:

A lecture course that prepares students for careers as writers.

Recent Summary:

A lecture and discussion course about surviving and thriving as a writer after graduation. Topics explored include arts grants applications, proper submission procedures for journals, periodicals and publishers, self-publishing, reasonable compensation expectations, and the importance of working in a wide variety of styles, genres and media. Question and answer sessions with guest professional writers and writing department faculty are a major component of this course.
