Stage drama, performance, direction, and instruction.


Sally is an award-winning playwright and educator and a director-performer who loves to clown.  An instructor of post-secondary writing and theatre education, she is a recipient of a Prime Minister’s Award for her work teaching theatre and film.  Sally holds graduate degrees in writing and art history and is a proud member of the Playwrights Guild of Canada.  Her published plays are Wreckage (Scirocco Drama) and Herr Beckmann’s People (Scirocco Drama, to be released Fall 2011). 

Plays in progress include Kid Gloves (Alberta Theatre Projects/Enbridge playRites Award, Established) and a commission from Vancouver’s Green Thumb Theatre for Young PeopleThe former was inspired by Canada’s first women police and is scheduled to premiere at Vancouver’s Firehall Arts Centre in Fall 2012, the one hundred year anniversary of Canadian women in policing.

Sally’s script Herr Beckmann’s People premiered June 2010 in the Flying Start Program, a collaborative initiative of Vancouver’s Touchstone Theatre and the Playwrights Theatre Centre.  In 2009, Sally was invited to present the play at the 8th International Women Playwrights Conference in Mumbai.  That year the play also received the 3rd Annual Canadian Peace Play Award. 

Other scripts include: Wreckage; Eyes. Two.; She’ll to the Wars; Home Movies; Spinning You Home; and Centurions (extract published in Ryga: A Journal of Provocations).  An independent film, Mother Cutter, co-adapted by Sally from Wreckage, was nominated for the Alberta Centennial Award and named a ‘Best of Alberta Shorts’ (Calgary International Film Festival).
