Poetry, the prose poem, construction sites, architecture, masculinity.


Garth has worked in Alberta as a forest fire lookout for the provincial government and a labourer for an Edmonton construction company.  He is an editorial intern for The Malahat Review and a former assistant editor for All Rights Reserved.  He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Open Space Arts Society.

In 2011, he won the RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for excerpts from his MFA thesis and working manuscript, The Motive of Machines. His writing has been broadcast on CBC Radio and has appeared in Grain Magazine, The Fiddlehead (forthcoming), and Leonard Cohen: You’re Our Man (in press), an international anthology of poems with connection to Leonard Cohen’s poetry.   His reviews have appeared in The Pacific Rim Review of Books and The Martlet.
