Our 2023 Fall Season
When their underground pornography distribution ring is accidentally exposed, four grade-nine boys from Saint Middleton’s Christian Academy are sent to the office of headmaster Reginald Buckminster for interrogation. The boys must work together and get their stories straight to outwit the devil himself in hopes of escaping with their lives, academic integrity and friendship intact.
Scotty and Claire, two sisters from rural Wainwright, Alberta, traverse the harsh prairie highways in attempts to make it to the big city of Calgary. Their final destination? An abortion clinic. In the post Roe v. Wade reversal political climate, the girls keep their wits about them the only way they can: disco music, vulgar jokes, and each other’s company. Through their car windshield, Scotty and Claire face a world positioned against them and learn what it takes to care for themselves and each other.
Byron, an unassuming maintenance worker, blasts off on a journey across the galaxy after a chance meeting with a mysterious figure. Their adventure brings them into orbit and around the stars, meeting new friends along the way and exploring the wonders of the natural world before facing off with their greatest challenge yet: The Sun. Will Byron’s dedication be enough to stop the oncoming catastrophes?
Our Typical Season
Every fall and spring semester, we put out a call for students to submit short plays, 30-45 minutes in length. We choose three plays for each season.
Then, teams of students are put together for each play: directors, designers, stage managers, and technical teams. Auditions are held by the directors to cast their productions. It’s a very quick process; each show has 1-4 weeks to rehearse, depending on their slot in the season.
Each show then has three performances. The shows are performed in the Barbara MacIntyre Theatre at the Phoenix, a little black-box studio theatre that offers flexibility for student designers.
The accessibility guide is a document created for SATCo audience members attending our shows. This document contains information about trigger warnings and content notes, accessibility, and more.
We usually post the accessibility guide for each show a few days prior to the show’s opening performance. Please reach out to our Liaison if you have any questions or concerns!
