August: Phoenix at the Fringe

Our current and former students are busy creating and performing in shows for the Victoria Fringe Festival—twelve days of live performances across the city, running August 20–31. With so many unique offerings to explore, here are just a few highlights!

A provincially mandated open mic for zoo animals where you'll see comedy, music, and ponderings on the nature of reincarnation.

September: Staging Indigenous Voices
|
|
Join us for the Indigenous Theatre Festival: Staging Our Voices, an artist-led gathering of sharing and teachings. This free, two-day event will take place on September 12–13 at the Phoenix Theatre. The festival will bring together Indigenous artists, Elders, and community leaders, featuring a blend of theatre performances, workshops, panels, and healing spaces designed to revitalize Indigenous languages and cultures.

Performances will include "Utszan" by Yvonne Wallace, "Slip Away" by Samantha Sutherland, and dance by the Git Hayetsk Dancers, along with traditional hoop dance by Jay Genaille, and many more. Plus a diverse range of workshops exploring Indigenous language revitalization, storytelling, embodiment, and connection to land through theatre, movement and voice.

October: The Salty Scent of Home
|
|
|
|
We’re thrilled to open our 2025–26 Mainstage Season with The Salty Scent of Home, a vibrant new production running October 9–18 in the Chief Dan George Theatre.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Created and directed by our Theatre Department Chair Dr. Yasmine Kandil, this original production—featuring current and former Phoenix students—brings to life the stories of six newcomer immigrants and refugees. Interwoven with lyrical poems inspired by the pattern of migratory birds, the performance celebrates freedom, resilience, and the strength of community. This moving piece reflects Kandil’s commitment to storytelling as empowerment. Don’t miss this timely and uplifting theatrical experience. Learn more
