Windows Remote Access

The SIM supports two methods of remote access to My Files and Class Files. The 'Network Drive' method connects using the remote connection capabilities of the Windows operating system.

The alternate 'SFTP' connection method uses third party software to connect and is equal in function to the 'Network Drive' method, though all of the file transfer operations occur through the application and not the operating system. We recomend using the SFTP method as a backup to the Network Drive method.

Network Drive

1. If off-campus you will need to setup VPN access before connecting to UVic

2. Then you may connect to "My_files" and "Class_Files"

SFTP

1. If off-campus you will need to setup VPN access before connecting to UVic

2. Then connect using SFTP, Secure File Transfer

Linux

If you're a Linux user, you'll likely just need this information:

smbclient //files.finearts.uvic.ca/my_files

smbclient //files.finearts.uvic.ca/class_files
