Fireworks

Create and optimize graphics and prototype websites and application interfaces with Adobe Fireworks. The emphasis of Fireworks is on vector editing, similar to Adobe Illustrator. This is ideal to use with Photoshop, which is primarily for bitmap graphics with limited vector editing features. Vector objects in Fireworks can be resized with no loss of quality, just as in Adobe Illustrator. A range of Macromedia FreeHand's vector tools were incorporated into the release of Fireworks 8. Bitmap objects by their nature suffer a loss in quality (known as "pixellation") whether resized in Fireworks, Adobe ImageReady, Photoshop, or any other program.

Flash

Flash can manipulate vector and raster graphics and supports bi-directional streaming of audio and video. It contains a scripting language called ActionScript. Several software products, systems, and devices are able to create or display Flash content, including Adobe Flash Player, which is available for most common web browsers, some mobile phones and other electronic devices (using Flash Lite).

Graphics & CAD

Photoshop

Photoshop complements other Adobe software for media editing, animation, and authoring. Files in Photoshop's native format, .PSD, can be exported to and from Adobe ImageReady, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Adobe Encore to make professional standard DVDs and provide non-linear editing and special effects services, such as backgrounds, textures, and so on, for television, film, and the Web. For example, Photoshop CS broadly supports making menus and buttons for DVDs. For .PSD files exported as a menu or button, it only needs to have layers, nested in layer sets with a cuing format, and Adobe Encore DVD reads them as buttons or menus. Photoshop is a pixel-based image editor, unlike Adobe Illustrator, which is a vector-based image editor.

Illustrator

Illustrator allows you to converte bitmap imagery into vector art with its tracing abilities.

VectorWorks

Vectorworks offers a full range of 2D, 3D, production management and presentation capabilities for all phases of the design process.
