Klisala Harrison (BMus ’97)

Since completing her Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology/Musicology at York University, Klisala Harrison (BMus ’97) has held positions at Columbia University and UBC and is currently Academy Research Fellow in Musicology, Department of Philosophy, History, Culture and Art Studies, at the University of Helsinki, Finland.

Klisala’s areas of expertise include indigenous music of Canada and northern Europe; music, health and well-being; music and poverty relationships; applied ethnomusicology; and music for theatre and film. Her current research project, co-funded by the Academy of Finland and University of Helsinki, is Music for Health and Well-being in Arctic Indigenous Cultures.
