Cassandra Miller (BMus ’05)

Since studying composition with Christopher Butterfield at UVic, composer Cassandra Miller (BMus ’05) pursued further studies with Richard Ayres and Yannis Kyriakides (Royal Conservatory of the Hague), and Michael Finnissy (private study 2012).

From 2010 to 2013, Cassandra was Artistic Director of Innovations en concert, a not-for-profit presenter of experimental chamber music in Montreal. In that post, she led the organization into a new era where it became known for its unusual programming, its support of young freelancers, the commissioning of monumental works, and the building of international connections for Quebec artists.

In 2011, she received the Jules-Léger Prize for New Chamber Music for her composition Bel Canto and her music is performed regularly throughout Canada, the US and Europe.

Cassandra is currently pursuing a doctorate at the University of Huddersfield (Bryn Harrison) with the support of the Jonathan Harvey Scholarship in Composition.
