Phillip T. Young Recital Hall
Located in the MacLaurin Building, B-Wing, the 220-seat Phillip T. Young Recital Hall is the main auditorium for faculty and student recitals, masterclasses and rehearsals. The Hall houses two Steinway concert grand pianos, adjustable lighting, and a state-of-the-art recording studio. The Recital Hall is wheel chair accessible from the main hall entrance for audience members and from the stage doors for backstage/stage access.
The Phillip T. Young Recital Hall is accessible seven days a week. If you would like to view the recital hall, please make an appointment by email (email@example.com) or phone (250-721-8634).
The School of Music has several classrooms available for rent for rehearsals, workshops, lessons and performances. Capacity varies from 25-60 people and all rooms are equipped with a Steinway piano, chairs and music stands.
The rental of the Phillip T. Young Recital Hall and School of Music classrooms to external organizations or individuals is limited by the availability during the academic year. Priority is given to performance, teaching and research programs in the School of Music. Due to the high demand of our facilities for faculty and student use, we do not regularly accept external bookings during the months of September-December and January-April.
The School of Music offers professional recording services, from audition recordings to “For Release” recording, including editing and mastering. More information and fees can be found here.
All ticket sales for external rentals are the responsibility of the user. The School of Music will not sell advanced tickets for your event nor do we collect fees or service charges associated with ticket sales.
