The Early Music Society of the Islands is pleased to sponsor a talk by Ben Grossman. This will be an informal talk on the hurdy gurdy (or vielle à roue), its history and its role in many genres of music.

Mr. Grossman is a guest artist for a concert of medieval music on September 28 with the Early Music Society of the Islands and is one of the leading proponents of this unusual instrument. He is a core member of the renowned Toronto Consort and is active in musical endeavours from early music to contemporary experimental music and soundscapes. He has been involved in over 100 CDs, soundtracks for film and television, composition and sound design for theatre, dance, radio and live performance.

The talk will last approximately 90 minutes. There is no charge for attendance.
