UVic Wind Symphony & the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy
Fantasy, Myths, and Legends
Steven Capaldo, Conductor
Jamie Davis, Guest Conductor
Lt.(N) Benjamin Van Slyke, Conductor
Our continuing collaboration with the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy takes us on a journey exploring the some of our greatest myths and legends. Join us in understanding how writers, musicians, dancers, painters, sculptors and other artists have been fuelled by curiosity and excitement about our deep connection to the folklore and stories embedded within us across many thousands of years.
The Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy is one of six regular force military bands of the Canadian Forces and serves as the official musical unit of the Canadian Forces Maritime Forces Pacific Command (MARPAC). Many UVic School of Music alumni have gone on to perform with Canadian Military ensembles including the Naden Band.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Naden Band of Maritime Forces Pacific Scholarship in Music Performance, awarded annually to second- and third-year School of Music students who demonstrate excellence in brass, woodwind, and percussion performance.
