The UVic Voice Ensemble and Victoria Baroque present a creative semi-staging of Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s gorgeous miniature drama-in-music, Actéon. Interspersed with musical scenes, the singers guide the audience through diverse reflections on the ancient Greek myth of Actéon’s punishment at the hands of the gods. Charpentier’s beguiling music is directed from the harpsichord by Marco Vitale, with stage direction by tenor Isaiah Bell, Dr. Kinza Tyrrell and Benjamin Butterfield leading the UVic Voice Ensemble, and winds and strings from Victoria Baroque.
