101 Years of Dizzy and Monk

2018 marks the 101st anniversary of the births of jazz innovators Dizzy Gillespie and Thelonious Monk. Both Dizzy and Monk were among the initial architects of bebop music, working on their new sounds at all hours at Harlem clubs like Minton’s and Monroe’s Uptown House.

The UVic Jazz Ensemble celebrates these masters with their best known works alongside some hidden gems.
