Ideafest: String quartets at UVic: A musical continuum
Tuesday, March 6 @ 11:00 am - 2:30 pm
String quartets must agree on artistic choices, like tempo and how much vibrato to use, all while balancing between the different voices. In an interactive performance, Canada’s first graduate string quartet, Cuarteto Chroma, invites the audience to suggest how they should perform a particular piece. Attendees will hear the effects their choices have on the outcome. Afterwards, Chroma will join the Lafayette String Quartet for an informal Q&A session, followed by a Lafayette-taught masterclass for UVic String students. Three opportunities to catch a glimpse of the intimate world of chamber music and explore the hidden facets of life in a string quartet.
11:00am – 12:15pm: Interactive performance (Phillip T. Young Recital Hall)
12:30 – 1:20pm: Question and answer session (B037)
1:30 – 2:20pm: Chamber music masterclass (Phillip T. Young Recital Hall)
