Collaborations with Music and Dance: A Composer and Artistic Director’s Perspective
This seminar addresses various approaches to collaboration between composers and choreographers, and the challenges and rewards of presenting live dance with live music. Underhill will present excerpts of his compositions with dance including Imprint, The Faerie Queen, In Motion, and examples of the Turning Point Ensemble’s collaborations involving dance, including its original production of Erik Satie’s Relâche.
Owen Underhill is active as a composer, conductor, artistic director and faculty member in the School for Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University.
