Guest Concert: Stephanie Zelnick, clarinet
Sunday, February 25 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
The twentieth century was undoubtedly a time of great upheaval, tragedy, and change. Stephanie Zelnick’s program takes a unique and provocative musical snapshot from the middle of this momentous time in human history. “Music exists not only as a pure art form but also as a distinct reflection of the society in which it was written,” says Zelnick, who will perform sonatinas by Joseph Horovitz and Bohuslav Martinů, Béla Kovács’ Sholem alekhem rov feidman, and Alan Shulman’s Rendezvous.
Hailed by critics as “simply sublime and exquisite,” Dr. Zelnick is Associate Professor of Clarinet at the University of Kansas and principal clarinet of the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra.
