Flute Masterclass with Richard Volet (Victoria Symphony)

Wednesday, March 14 @ 1:30 pm - 2:20 pm

Richard Volet, flutist with the Victoria Symphony, leads a masterclass with School of Music flute students. All are welcome to attend.

Richard Volet has performed extensively in solo, chamber and orchestral music, including numerous CBC recordings in these genres. He has performed with the Vancouver Symphony, Vancouver Opera, new music group Aventa, and appears regularly in chamber music with Eine Kleine Summer Music.

He has taught extensively at all levels, from beginners to aspiring professionals, for thirty five years. His students have ranged in age from four to eighty, and many have gone on to study at the finest post secondary institutions, and become professional flutists.

Volet began his musical studies with Victor Harris, the long time piccoloist with the New York City Ballet. His later teachers were the legendary flutists Thomas Nyfenger and Samuel Baron, and Stuart Knussen, Principal Double Bass of the London Symphony.

Richard has been playing with the Victoria Symphony since 1988.
