UVic string students perform solo sonatas, partitas and suites by Johann Sebastian Bach for a panel of expert adjudicators.

Bach’s solo string works are considered some of the finest examples of any music composed. Their timeless melodies, heart-felt harmonies, intricate yet complex counterpoint continue to provide performers and listeners alike with sublime pleasure and unlocking the mysteries in their meaning is an almost three-hundred year old tradition. These works are known for their technical challenges and musical sophistication.
