The Fine Arts Interactive Media lab (aka the FAIM) was founded as co-venture between the Department of Art History and Visual Studies and the Department of Writing to facilitate the exploration and investigation of current and historical video games, interactive narrative, and virtual reality.
The game lab is a reservable resource that students and instructors have access to. The game lab room is located in Fine Arts Building 140, and contains several video game systems.
To access the game lab, you must be enrolled in one of our video game courses, book a time slot online, and then pick up the key from the Fine Arts Equipment Cage. Click here for instructions on how to access the game lab.
There are two sets of hours to consider. The hours to pick up and return keys, and the hours that the building is open. Learn about the hours here.
Anytime you have keys to the game lab, you are responsible for its contents. Use your powers wisely.
Remember to lock and close the door to the game lab whenever you are not in the room.
Our eclectic game library includes disc-based, cartridge-based, and system-based games. This means that some games are loaded on the systems by default, and other games you will need to book and sign out from the equipment cage. Learn about our games and systems here.
No problem. If you have never used a video game console or if you have questions, please speak to equipment cage staff in FIA 238 for instructions and a tour of the lab.
