ARTiculate is a peer-reviewed, art historical journal that showcases the work of students currently pursuing a Graduate Degree in Art History and Visual Studies. The publication is reflective of the University of Victoria History in Art Department’s dedication to a global art history. The wide array of cultures and mediums covered in previously published submissions exemplifies the development of a forum for graduate art historical scholarship that remains committed to this inclusive art historical approach. Scholarship examining topics ranging from contemporary Indigenous serigraphy, to Byzantine ecclesiastical mosaics to Turkish luxury arts has been selected for publication. Given the intent to produce a publication attentive to the diversity implicated in contemporary definitions for artistic production, no preference is given to submissions pertaining to a particular temporal or cultural context. Consequently, prospective applicants are encouraged to utilize any number of theoretical approaches to develop their analyses. The publication is reflective of the Department’s dedication to a global art history.
