Tenure-track Position in Writing

The Department of Writing, University of Victoria, invites applications for an Assistant Professor, tenure-track position in writing for stage and/or screen. The appointment will be effective July 1, 2012. The successful candidate will have an established record of professional engagement as a screenwriter and/or playwright. Applicants should also have experience teaching in their respective genres.

The Department of Writing offers a workshop-based program and is home to approximately 300 students who are highly successful in their pursuit of professional publishing/productions, as well as graduate positions in Canada and abroad. Our faculty members are dedicated instructors and working writers, active locally, nationally and internationally.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students, and participate in Department activities, including committee work and public outreach. An MFA or MA in the field is desirable as is the ability to teach in both stage and screen; a solid professional record is essential. Candidates should also be prepared to demonstrate excellence in teaching.
