Areas of Research & Creative ActivityCreative nonfiction, especially the memoir; print journalism, especially newspapers; editing and the creation of anthologies; nonfiction as a tool for social change. BiographyLynne Van Luven was the founding director of the Professional Writing Minor in the Department of Writing. She worked for many years as a print journalist before becoming an academic. Her interest in social issues and the personal essay converged in her two recent anthologies, Nobody’s Mother and Nobody’s Father, published in 2006 and 2008 respectively. She was the editor of one of the first national anthologies of creative nonfiction, Going Some Place: Creative Nonfiction Across Canada. She also works behind the scenes in the publishing industry as a creative, substantive editor of both novels and nonfiction. She is at work on two new anthologies, one of which is forthcoming in 2010. |
