Areas of Research & Creative ActivityPoetry. BiographyArleen Paré, who grew up in Montreal and lived and worked for many years in Vancouver, segued into writing from her former career in social work administration by writing her mixed-genre novel, Paper Trail. In 2008, Paper Trail won the Victoria Butler Book Prize and was nominated for the Dorothy Livesay BC Book Award for Poetry. She was poet of the month for the Victoria Public Library in March 2007, and has been published in The Malahat Review, Geist magazine, CVII, and various anthologies. In 2006, she was awarded a BC Arts Scholarship and in 2007 she won the Candis Graham Award for Literature. She has worked with new authors as a manuscript mentor and sits on the Board of Geist Magazine. Paré focuses mainly on poetry, but also explores the sticky boundaries between genres. |
