How to Apply - Graduate
We offer a two-year program leading to a Master of Fine Arts degree. The core of the program emphasizes rigorous and intensive studio work combined with critical discussions taking place in regular seminars. Candidates will also teach an undergraduate course during one semester of their studies.
The program focuses on the areas of drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, digital media arts, and video art. The Department of Visual Arts recognizes and encourages work that does not fit singularly into these categories.
Please apply via the Graduate Studies Admissions page.

Financial Aid (FAQ)
UVic offers two kind of financial assistance:
University of Victoria Fellowships ($12,400)
All new applicants are evaluated for UVic Fellowships. The minimum grade required for consideration is an A-. Competition for University of Victoria Fellowships is very difficult, and meeting the minimum standard for consideration does not guarantee that a student will be granted a Fellowship.
University Teaching or Research Assistantship
Graduate students may apply, through the Department of Visual Arts, for paid employment as Academic Assistants. Such employment is negotiated through the Department of Visual Arts (not through the Faculty of Graduate Studies) at rates of pay determined by UVic. Students appointed as Academic Assistants may also be recommended by their department to the Faculty of Graduate Studies for a supplement.
See the University Calendar and the Student Financial Aid Office for information on scholarships and bursaries. The Faculty of Graduate Study has more links to funding resources. Please also see the Canada Council for the Arts to find out if you are eligible for grants.
