Yoko Takashima

2

"So much of what Yoko Takashima does evokes laughter.  There is humour in almost everything she makes.  It is not the negative humour of the satirist that we experience in her work.  Rather, it is humour that does not denigrate its subject.

We are invited into a world that isn't public, but it is also a world where the body is in a state of transition - the body that is being groomed is unfinished, far from perfect, even grotesque in the medieval sense. "
