Brief Biography

Todd Lambeth’s painting practice explores the relationship between motif and concept, and is based on the exploration of the medium of paint and its ability to communicate relevant and thoughtful ideas.  In recent years the focus of Lambeth’s studio practice has revolved around the translation of photographs into paintings.  Whether appropriating photographs from the Internet, or using banal, personal cell phone images as his source material, his work mixes codes from two different media and interrogates the image culture in which we live.
Todd Lambeth has exhibited his work across Canada in both commercial galleries and artist run centres.  His work can be found in a number of private and public art collections, most notably the Alberta Art Foundation, Shell Canada and the law firm of Bennett Jones.  Lambeth received a BC Arts Council grant in 2009 and a Canada Council grant for emerging artists in 2002.
Todd Lambeth received an Associate of the Ontario College of Art with honours in 1991 and completed his MFA at the University of Victoria in 2008.
