Obstruction of Hallways and Stairwells

Storage of materials and placement of artwork in corridors and stairwells is not permitted without prior approval of the Facility and Production Manager. This is not only a University of Victoria policy but a fire and safety regulation set out and enforced by the Oak Bay Fire Department. The Visual Arts Department is subject to substantial fines for breaching this regulation.

Artwork is not to be hung from sprinkler heads under any circumstance.

Your cooperation is appreciated in this matter.

Student Lounge / Kitchen

This is your area. Please look after it.

Visiting Artist Lecture Series

Failure to Set Alarms

The last student leaving an alarmed area after hours is responsible for ensuring that the alarm system has been armed. Failure to do so will result in a $25 fine.

Securing the Building

Due to the remote location of the Visual Arts building on the campus, security is always a concern. Please do not leave doors propped open after regular building hours. If you open a window please close it again when you leave the room. Please shut lights off if you are last to leave a room.

Thank you for taking the time to read this information bulletin. As time permits a copy will be posted on the Visual Arts website. We look forward to working with you throughout the year and are always willing to hear your suggestions to improve your time in the Visual Arts program.

Thank you!
