Linda Hardy received her professional training at The
Goodman School of Drama and The Art Institute of Chicago. She specializes in acting, voice,
speech, and directing, with particular interests in Shakespearean
production and Asian Theatre.
In the past decade she has directed seven plays for the
Phoenix Theatre, including the first Asian Orion production, Fantastic, as well as Romeo and Juliet, The Seagull and Amigo’s Blue Guitar. Linda was a member of
the New Globe Theatre Actors’ Workshop in London, England, in 1995; a
creative consultant for Maya Box Theatre in Bangkok in ‘96; and, an Artist
in Residence for the 80th anniversary of Chulalongkorn
University in Bangkok in ‘97, where she directed A Midsummer
Night’s Dream.
In 2000, she directed Twelfth Night at Millsaps College, in Jackson, Mississippi,
and 2001 found her at the Poesie
Sommer Festivel in Beinwil am See, Switzerland, where she conducted Master
Classes and directed The Girlhood of Shakespeare’s Heroines. In
2003, she directed the première of Les Belles Soeurs in Thailand. Linda is now preparing for an artistic residency at the Sichuan
Conservatory in Chengdu, China, to begin in 2007.
One of the founders The New Bastion Theatre
Company in 1989, a fully professional regional theatre in Victoria
that employed 80-90 theatre artists per year, Linda is currently serving
as dramaturge for Peter Such’s Sunderland and learning Mandarin.
