Fine Arts Advising Centre

The Fine Arts Advising Centre helps undergraduate students plan programs in Fine Arts (History In Art, Theatre, Visual Arts, Writing, students in Music should contact the School of Music), identify required courses, find information about campus resources, obtain permission to take courses at other institutions, determine how transfer credits fit into the program, make sure graduation requirements are complete.

  • Academic advice is given to prospective and current students.

Appointments

Appointments can be booked by phone or email. If the Advisor is available drop-in appointments are welcome. Advising can also be done on the phone or by email.

Declare your program

All Fine Arts students must declare their program with the Fine Arts Advisor prior to entering 3rd year. A Declaration of Degree Program form is filled in and signed by both the Advisor and the student.

UVic’s Registration

First year students should familiarize themselves with UVic’s Registration Guide and the First-Year Program Guide. For detailed information on regulations, academic policies, faculties, degrees, courses and pre-requisites, the UVic Calendar is your complete reference.

Academic Calendar

Make sure you have the current year’s Calendar – course requirements do change from year to year. Remember that you have the ultimate responsibility for your academic success or failure, so understanding the Calendar requirements is in your own best interest.

Taking electives

Many Fine Arts courses are open to all students. Please refer to the "Take an elective" webpage, This page outlines the courses open to non-majors in each of the departments in Fine Arts. For Graduate Advising please contact the specific department.
