Comprehensive

The Comprehensive major is the most flexible of our Bachelor of Music programs. It is ideal if you are seeking a broadly based education in music with a strong liberal arts bias. It is also suitable if you wish to pursue one of the following careers:

• Orchestral, band, or choral conductor
• Church musician
• Arts administration
• Electronic media

Courses

Comprehensive majors take the same core of music courses required of all BMus students, and have a great deal of choice in tailoring the program to their own needs.

Graduate Study

Graduating with a BMus in Comprehensive will not exclude you from going on to graduate-level study in a more specific field, since graduate schools will usually consider your academic record and the courses you have taken, rather than what major program you followed.
