Dániel Péter Biró


Dániel Péter Biró is currently working on commissioned compositions for the Quasar Saxaphone Quartet (Montreal), the Aventa Ensemble (Victoria) and the Ensemble Surplus (Freiburg, Germany) made possible through Canada Council Composer Commissioning Grants as well as a grant from the Ernst von Siemens Foundation for Music. In May 2010 he will be a featured composer at the Mehrklang Festival in Freiburg, Germany where his electroacoustic composition Ko Amar will be performed by the Ensemble Surplus and the Experimental Studio of the German Radio (SWR).


Jonathan Goldman


Jonathan Goldman just published the latest issue of the journal he edits, Circuit, musiques contemporaines (vol. 18, no. 1) entitled “La Fabrique des œuvres”, devoted to the study of composers’ workshops, including those of Elliott Carter, Salvatore Sciarrino, José Evangelista and György Kurtag (www.revuecircuit.ca). His paper “Charting Memoriale: Paradigmatic Analysis and Harmonic schemata from Boulez’s ‘....explosante-fixe...’” was just published in the current issue of Music Analysis ( vol. XXVII, no. 2-3, pp. 217-252).


Arthur Rowe


In January, Arthur Rowe was piano soloist in Beethoven's Triple concerto, with the Amarillo Symphony and prior to performing with the Concertmaster of the Cleveland Orchestra next month in London, Ontario, he will be adjudicating the Seattle Young Artists Competition.



Harald Krebs


In January 2010, Harald Krebs is delivering papers at a Schumann conference in the composer's hometown of Zwickau, and in February at a Chopin conference in Warsaw. In March he will present guest lectures at the University of Saskatchewan, and in April at University College Dublin, the National University of Ireland, and at the Royal Irish Academy of Music.


Anita Bonkowski


Anita Bonkowski performed with her duo in Europe in July, and has booked a return tour in May 2010
