Do you love live music? Do you want to help nurture the next generation of musicians in Canada? You can support the education of our students as they learn about both onstage and backstage aspects of concert performance. You can help enjoying a range of concerts found nowhere else. Come participate in exciting School of Music initiatives like Friday Music and our annual festival!

Our Funding Dilemma

Unfortunately, our academic funding does not cover all the costs of staging performances. Unlike local arts organizations, we receive no government grants. In addition, we keep our ticket rates as low as possible so we can stay accessible to the community.

The School of Music appreciates donations of any size to help support our work at the School of Music. We can give tax receipts for all donations.

Adopt a Piano

The UVic School of Music has become Canada’s very first all-Steinway school. We have acquired 63 new Steinway pianos: 49 uprights for practice rooms and faculty offices, 13 grand pianos for each of our piano teaching faculty and rehearsal halls, and one simply beautiful Steinway Concert Grand. Every music lover and concert goer can appreciate the beauty and quality of these incredible instruments.

If you love music of any description, orchestral or vocal, you could do nothing more powerful to bolster our School of Music programs than support the purchase of our new Steinways by "adopting" a piano. Please consider becoming part of the Steinway Family at UVic—we need your donation.

Create an Award

Consider setting up an endowment fund for the permanent annual support of a bursary or scholarship award.

  • Bursaries are awarded to students who domonstrate financial need.
  • Scholarships are awarded to students who show academic excellence.
  • Leave a legacy or honour someone in perpetuity by establishing an award in his or her name.
  • Designate an award for students in a specific area of study or specialization. Click here to see a list of current awards.
  • Awards are attributed to students through UVic Student Awards and Financial Aid in conjunction with the department.
